Welcome!
First of all, here is a little bit about me. My name is Sabrina Sherman, and I am the ELA teacher for all of 7th grade and for part of 8th grade at Rise Kohyang Middle School. I graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University (West Palm Beach, FL) in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Musical Theater. After moving to Los Angeles, I then went on to finish my Masters in Education: Teaching from Azusa Pacific University. I hold a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English, and I completed my student teaching working with 7th and 8th grade students from the Glendale area.
A few of my hobbies include singing and creative writing. I also enjoy playing tennis, softball, or volleyball, and somehow, my husband has gotten me involved in a fantasy football league. I love hiking here, because as a Florida native, I never got to experience any variety of landscaping other than beaches and swamp! A couple of other fun facts is that I have a Venezuelan heritage, I love Harry Potter, and I'm an avid Settler of Catan player.
This is my first year at Rise, and I am very excited to become a part of the wonderful community here! I'm sure it's going to be an excellent year full of challenges, lots of reading and writing, and great memories. I am confident that we will be able to work hard in order to learn more than ever before, and you can bet that we will also have a lot of fun.
Looking forward to the new year!
